Why TV needs a shot of Smart Juice

I am leaving my usual rant about a game style to bring you my rant about TV. But first, I need to get a few things squared away, number 1 is that this is not a rant on shows need originality, they are original, just find the right shows. 2 is this is a rant about why TV needs to step back and realize what its doing. I am going to use the show Stargate Atlantis. If anyone has ever seen the show which is likely due to its popularity knows that over the years it has gone through more changes then its predacsor. This show has taken a while to hit its stride, and I mean this in the sense that the show has been working well, alot of the shows dynamics have been right on. The only sinkhole it had, at least in my mind was its leader. It has been through three leaders since it first ran. For three years it was Elizabeth Wier (Tori Higgison). She was "ok" at her job, but I found her character weak and in the end didn't really make the leader i wanted to see or even come close to th...

Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance

Expansions. They either are good or a money grabber and most of them usually lean towards the later but sometimes you’re lucky and find a hidden gem. This gem is Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. I picked up thinking I just want some new units to use to blow up other people I respect but I got alot more than I thought. Something with a Taste

My title as ytou have been able to tell means nothing at all, because right now the mind has gotten fucked up. I just saw to myself the last episode of Battlestar Galactica for this year. All I can say is...nothing actully because that how amazing this episode was. The part I love is that it could have been easy to end the show on that episode, granted alot of people would have been outraged but in the end it could have worked. The message it could have sent to the viewers if ended their would have been massive, granted I am happy there is more because alot of loose ends are not tied up but the overall arch of Earth is done. I give credit to the makers of the show, because when I was watching the episode and they were going to earth, I didnt really feel exitment for them, or a sudden end to things just a show. But then came a shot, which was of the ships sitting above in Earth orbit with the sun. It just was so well done and for me at least feel a sudden attachement to finding Earth. I...

Battlefield: Bad Company

Well it looks like I found myself a new online addiction, and its name is Battlefield: Bad Company. This has captured me in its evil grasp, and damn it all I can’t blow a hole through the hand. Granted it is only the demo of the game, it, and I say this with all the credibility of a gamer I can (which is probably nothing) it is the new Call of Duty 4. I say this because Bad Company is Call of Duty 4 but with more humour and lots of destructible environments. If no one has heard of this game, then get your head out of your asses and do it...or keep reading cause I’m going to explain the game. Bad Company is the first game by dice that actually focuses on a single play in the battlefield series. Yes you could say Battlefield: Modern Conflict has a single player but it clearly was second place in importance with Dice. This game is hilarious, if you have seen the trailers you know what I mean, and even playing a few of the levels showed me the hilariousness of the dialogue such as “I’m go...

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

Well folks, my trusty campanion computer has finally died. After 6 years of working and fidling I have to put it into my graveyard of computer parts. I have yet no idea why it has stopped working, it just froze after a recent battle with a virus and luckily going to University has its benifits. But it will be sad to say goodbye to my computer it has been around along time. Now let me bore you with the histroy and starting of my computer, and stop readng if don't feel like drooling of sleep. My earlier gaming machine before the late computer was a crappy old pc, that could run starcraft and half life barly. So comes a birthday and I ask for a new video card. My parents get my a nice shiny one too, but when we try it in the computer it won't fit, then we try my mom's computer which had been a bit newer and it won't fit. My father returns the video card and buys a lesser one but one that might work...but it doesn't. Finally my dad gives me his computer which was newer ...

I Revist a Good Friend

so a few weekends ago, I got to play an old favorite game of mine Empire Earth. It was a bit of a under-stated game when it came out but has stayed firm in my heart for a grand RTS. The reasons why this game is receiving my high praises is because of one major component: Grand Scale. This game serves you up not a feeling of fighting a detachment from an army fighting in a battle that is only part of a war. This game gives you a feeling of building an empire and waging war in the same notions of Sins of A Solar Empire. The game offers such a immense scale, that maps take massive amounts of time to cross in the same liking of another favorite Supreme Commander. Its possible to have massive engagements also because of the high unit cap, which when in 2 player can mean over 500 units per side. Granted when playing a massive 8 players game this unit cap of 1200 is split 8 ways. I take for example of awesomeness this game gave me, a battle that has made me immersed back into this grand RTS. ...

Dawn of War: Soulstorm

The 3rd expansion of the dawn of war series and the last effort of trying to milk the dawn of war series. This one bring in a new element called air ships and two new races called the Dark Eldar and The Sisters of Battle. It uses the same risk style of mission campaign as in Dark Crusade but instead of one planet it uses 4 different ones. The new game play element of air units is done very poorly. They act like normal hover units, and in actual changing of the game it doesn't do a thing. The air units are seem like their tacked on and not finished. If they had not made air units the big thing about this expansion and that it would change everything then it wouldn't be so bad, but it does nothing but add a unit which in the end is never that bad. The new races though are a special light. They have been crafted so well, each look amazing and play well too...well kinda. The races are balanced but the Sisters of Battle feel a bit over-powerd. I havnt played a game yet where I yet ...

Sins of a Solar Empire

Yep, the game I looked so forward to is finally out and its a massive...(in anticipation I decide to keep you waiting) amazing. This has been a game to wait for this year, and should win itself a few awards. From massive epic scale battles to easy but interesting empire management, the game is a killer. You start with one planet, but have the option of conquering solar systems of up to about 20 planets and even to a galaxy which can hold 5 solar systems. This means massive empires but no worries on to much micro management, the game has a simple yet still fun way of managing you empire from a side bar which shows all planets and everything inside them. With such a large area to make you empire and for it to keep fun this game will suck away all your free time. It being an rts you will find a hard time to find a place to stop. Trust me, I will try to play this game for only an hour and then 4 hours later and probably some sort of social event gone by, I am still playing and conquering ...

Hellgate: London

If any one is a gamer from the past then they should know about the game Diablo 2. Well it looks like the developers of the game have run off to make their own studio Flagship Studio's. With this new studio they have created a game called Hellgate: London. Which of any one has seen any of the videos for it, know it looked amazing and was going to be a great game...well its turn out we were wrong. No idea how it is possible to screw up a game that looked so nice, and has such great potentail but I guess those who can create such power of a game like Diable, can do anything at all (like be fucktards). The major complaint anyone can say at first about the game is the complete utter lack of textures. I mean it has some which can look "ok" but still this is the 2008 (late 2007 for it release date) and their is an expectation. I don't know why they seemed not to put any detail in the game but it seems they have fucked it. I would not complain as much if everything el...
