Valve you Brillant Basterds

As you all know I have gone to the dark side (or is that lighter side?) but with Valve's ingenious idea of putting Steam onto Macs I can still play games. What this blog is going to be about is the brillance of doing such an action, and how it could create a gaming platform out of Macs. Macs have always been known as lacking in the gaming department, with little support to push it forward. Steam has allowed Valve to put all of its title games unto the Mac which has already just created a new source of gaming for Mac users. The best part though is what this could mean for not just Valve, best the rest of developers. The Mac, a barren wasteland for games, with the one argument that PC kept pulling out against Mac is its lack of gaming. Now this is not totally true, more and more developers are realizing that Mac users play games and put out games for them. Still though this has not created large number to play, and usually Mac users have to wait for a game to come out. Damn you CIV 5...

And That Makes Three

The end is nigh, I am now an owner of an IMac. I know, I have disappointed you all but you know what as a future film director it is kinda important. I still have my old Laptop and it is still in good working order, just was starting to show its age a little bit. Though this is far from the main reason as in reality I need a computer that can do Final Cut Pro (Or Studio whatever it is called these days) and well my old laptop couldn't. Now I will tell you though that this new IMac well is probably the biggest update I have ever done before, it being quite a powerhouse inside of it. The Specs 2.9 Ghz I7 processor 4 GB of Ram 1 Gb of dedicated video on a ATI HD 5750 oh and a giant 27 inch screen Yep pretty big step up from what I had, and well since I am a filmmaker I am going to need it. The only part I am a little unhappy about is the 4GB of ram but luckily Apple is smart enough to realize that putting expansion ability into at least ram is handy. Thus hopefully I will be able to a...

Something I Never Speak About

A few days ago I booted up some Homeworld 2, which if you have ever known me (sorry about that) or read more then this post on the blog know that I love this game. No idea why. Actually that is not true, I do know why it is because it is fun, strategic, pretty and really engrossing. A simple match can last twenty minutes or an hour. The game itself while being played has a way to create a narrative in your own ships without you even knowing it. Meaning while in a battle the player is trying to keep a ship alive out of a connection to it. The reason I say all of this is because of I have screenshots of the latest battle. Whoop! I like the way the game does fighters. Somehow they are pretty to see in a firefight while not being taking a static path to fight something fighters will actually move around a little adding a bit of character. The only problem I have with this game is that after capturing a carrier which is pretty much a construction ship I cannot actually use for anything. I h...

Ads! What is this!

So just found out I can put ads out on this blog and maybe make me money! Start clicking away you dead people (if you or anyone please visit the post before this one and it will be explained, you can then laugh). I know it is selling out to the man, but the man has money and I don't. I only put one so it shouldn't even be that obstructive but if it is please let me know

A Little Battle in a Nice Field (Or Why You Should Go Out and Play Garry's Mod

Woke up this morning and while waiting for Episode 2 to install because someone really smart would have let it download in the night. While waiting I decided to play a little Garry's Mod and play on my favorite map Onslaught V2 to build a awesome fort. Well in the photos above you can see my awesome fort idea kinda fell through because on certain objects when being spawned crashed my game. No matter what this is some pictures from the grand battle that took place while most of you were sleeping. Tsk tsk, see what you miss when you sleep. The fort well turned into a more pyramid form but it worked effectively from cutting me off from being mauled by zombies. I actually had tons of turret surrounding the base but well I forgot how easy they can be tipped over, though they did help kill a few zombies with me. Everyone on screen is NPC who helped with the same cover as the turret but were less inclined to shoot me as well. After a bit the game got a little hectic. As you can see by the...

Another New Addition

Realized after my post went out I meant to post some pictures of some Half-Life Adventures. I kinda want to make the site more visual,so expect more pictures from me. Why? Why thank you Ross for asking. Two reasons. One, being that it allows you to see what I am talking about and put a face to the description in a sense. Second, since I am needing to describe as much I can talk more! or type less. This is in Episode 1 when Alex decides we should take another train. You know I like her and all but when she keeps suggesting that we be bait, I kinda want to input a little such as "no", "hell no" and my favorite "oops don't know how my bullet ended up there, well better go on the train where nothing bad ever happens on it" Kinda my favorite scene ever. Ravenholm still scares the living shit out of my but at the same time I can't help feel it is the best levels as it is just perfect in design.

Half of My Life

Ya, so my gaming spirit has come to me, and right around exam time. perfect. As bad as this new craze has been for my studying, it has made me want to update this long forgotten blog. Don't worry I have been thinking of you, though I did try something new with Tumbr. I still like Blogspot better, just simpler and I think a more professional look. Now on to my new post. This gaming craze came from a conversation I had with a roommate over which game could be called art. Eventually the one game we could 100% say is art was Half-Life and more specifically Half-Life 2. Feeling a need to play the old beast again, I loaded up Steam. By the way I know Steam has many criticism but man is it cool to load it up then install a game quickly and simply. Steampower! Yep never going to say that again. Well I didn't want to head long into Half-Life 2 and instead went from Half-Life, to Opposing force and so on. Right now I just beat Episode 1 which may not be the best content but its short an...
