Supreme Commander

Let me start off first with saying that any game that lets me kills lots of robots with a sweeping laser blast has got to be great. Of coarse I am talking about Supreme Commander which my idle hands just got their fingers on the demo. This game brings alot of new things onto the table of rts, which I haven't seen in a long time. One of my favorite new innovations they brought with them is the ability to scroll in and out of the map to a satellite view or about 50 meters above ground level. The other main favorite of the new ideas is the shield emitters maybe not all that new but still wicked to use. It is good to see that in our world there are still new ideas out there in the world. One of my pet peeves in rts games is that so many out there are if I have a massive army and you just got a small ultimate troops, you are still screwed, supreme commander decides to change that by alot.

I was playing my first battle, barely knowing what I was doing just building things that really for all I know could be the restroom. When I started to get a handle on thing I build two artillery weapons and some shields around them for support, well the A.I. didn't like this so much so it moved it army at me, from what I thought was a massive number of building were units and they seemed to just keep coming. I thought "I am so fucked" so they reach a small army of guys which if the army had a name would be guys I thought looked cool. They take them out fast but we do a bit of damage but he had at least 90% of his army left. I had built a bomber because well it was an option, with this bomber, I see if it can do any kind of damage to an army. Well I found out it was a tactical bomber in which if you see this thing coming at you, you go shit yourself because when the bombs drop groups of guys go bye bye in seconds. The bomber is flying around hitting his forces and taking out chunks but there is still about half his army to deal with and I have nothing left except a couple of artillery pieces. What I didn't know was that this thing had splash damage and one of them fired fast over and over again. With the help of some low level turrets his about a 100 robot army is wiped of the army and the next shot my artillery takes hits their commander and I win the game in nuclear show off of destruction. I'm still not sure how I won that game but that what tells me it is great.

Its a game where you an your opponent might be having a cold war but when you or your enemy make it hot you can send in everything you got, and it could seem that his army is destroying yours but his side could be just as easily hurt and you won't really know. You also might have it when one of you are almost dead but on a small island you have a clock shield to make yourself invisible to their radar and a small shield building a experimental unit that can drop all kinds of hell on your enemy. Let me say one thing that this games experimental units kick ass, one looks like a spider but one that can sweep and kill hoards of guys, another looks like a tick but one that could wipe a city off of the face of the earth. The last, well when you see it you go what am I building but once built it opens it's what I call death things and well fire large artillery rounds at an enemy but at about 3 seconds intervals which is just fun to see.

Buy this game anyway you can, go into you couch, mug people, maybe even trade few games for it, you will find it so worth it and if not then use the left over money to get into a psych ward. oh and it supports duel screen so you can have one screen you normal rts but the other in satellite mode or deep in a combat area.

Total War: Rome II

Total War: Rome II  So it took almost 2 years but I think I finally like this game. It's amazing to me because Rome Total War probably up there in most played game. The hours I have put into the game, and the nights spent trying to take over the known world are so many.  The memory of playing the demo for the first time sticks in my brain in the original game. Taking my force and attacking from the tress in a surprise maneuver just had me my teenager mind lost in a sea of tactics and battles. From that point it was nights spent avoiding homework going "just one more turn" as my armies marches across the classical world. There was something to a game that balanced a great real time war scenario with a simple yet fun turn based system that had you stuck once you started. Years went by, and more Total War games came out, but slowly they just stopped being the Total War games I loved. Looking at them I loved certain parts but the dark era of gunpowder nev...

Sins of a Solar Empire

Yep, the game I looked so forward to is finally out and its a massive...(in anticipation I decide to keep you waiting) amazing. This has been a game to wait for this year, and should win itself a few awards. From massive epic scale battles to easy but interesting empire management, the game is a killer. You start with one planet, but have the option of conquering solar systems of up to about 20 planets and even to a galaxy which can hold 5 solar systems. This means massive empires but no worries on to much micro management, the game has a simple yet still fun way of managing you empire from a side bar which shows all planets and everything inside them. With such a large area to make you empire and for it to keep fun this game will suck away all your free time. It being an rts you will find a hard time to find a place to stop. Trust me, I will try to play this game for only an hour and then 4 hours later and probably some sort of social event gone by, I am still playing and conquering ...

A new Sheriff in town

Hey Folks, won't even go into how long it has been but as tradition, a new gaming machine means a new blog post. Normally I would post if I had upgraded my main computer with something amazing. However my old 2010 iMac is still a beast so I have yet to need to do anything with it. In the mean time Macbook Air and a Macbook Pro have done well to fill any other voids I might have. This being said today I got probably the first time, a fully operational gaming machine. It is not like a  typical gaming machine however. I don't have a huge case, or 2 GPU with i7 whatever in it. Instead i got an Alienware Alpha. This thing takes up less space then a Xbox, or PS4 yet punches even harder. It has a 2 GB Nvidia card in it paired with 8 GB of Ram, and a 250 SSD. It only has a i3 processor but this is a machine meant for games. It is not meant to destroy frame rates, or edit movies however compared to the 2010 1 GB ATI card in my iMac it can beat the pants off of it for sure. I have yet ...
